I needed the simple one; I was not much comfortable with the technology driven gadgets. I was rather dull and slow in understanding of the system - how one should go about operating the Cell phone. I had observed the growth of telephony during last twenty years or so; but I never could pip out of the old mind set and was comfortable with the conventional phone we had.
A friend of mine convinced me of the features and benifits of cell phone. But I understood a simple fact that I could always remain connected to rest of the world. And I bought Nokia 1108, a simple one but was costly(Rs 2800/) those days. Now it is my wifes precious possesion.
I bought another one some two years ago. This time it was Nokia1650; simple and not expenssive.
Nokia cell phones are the best in delivering quality. However their dealers are utherwise. On both the purchares, they did not give all the acesorries. They did not give the interface chord and said that the company did not supply this in the pack.
Nokia is economical; and they have technology which is most suited to the Indian environment.
