After the success of 3315 & 3310, Nokia released 2100 & 1100 as budget phones. Nokia, the most trusted brand in India.. Lets see what this phone is all about.
Appearance:
The phone looks quite good. Those who have used other brands like Sony Ericsson, Motorola would find this to be a little heavy and not as cute. While those who have used 3315 and 3310 would find it light. The Flashing keypad that gives a Rhythmic backlight alert is catchy. The white flash is really bright and attractive.
The Keypad is smooth. The keys are responsive enough, especially for SMS junkies, you can type them as fast as you want. And, Group SMS option is available.
Display:
The display is Monochrome. ie., black. The backlight is good. The screensavers can be displayed on the full area of display. The display font size can be changed. These are some display options available.
Ringtones:
The phone has 35 good Monophonic ringtones. Ringtones can also be received via sms or downloaded. The ring volume is very good and you cant miss any call. The Vibration alert is quite strong as well. So, thumbs up to Nokia in this regard.
Features:
The phone has no big features. No WAP (you cant access internet), no USB (you cant download content from your computer), no Polyphonic ringtones, no GPRS. Though its a bit harsh to ask for rich features on budget phones, there are already phones on the same price range which offer these features. For example, Sony Ericsson T105, Samsung R220, Motorola C350, Samsung C100, Alcatel OT 535 etc.
Messages:
You can store upto 16 SMSs. You can send/receive picture SMS, ringtones, and text.
Others:
The phone has a phonebook which can store upto 100 numbers. Further 10 dialled calls, 10 received calls, 10 missed calls are stored in call records. The phone has other usual features like Alarm and clock, stop watch. The phone is quite sturdy. Even after it fell down 2 or 3 times, nuthing has gone wrong with it. Its still 150% perfect.
Games:
The phone has three games. The traditional Link5, Space Impact and Snake II.
Battery:
For regular use, the phone has to be charged once in two days.
CONCLUSION:
Considering the fact that this phone has no WAP (you cant access internet), no USB (you cant download content from your computer), no IrDA, no Polyphonic ringtones, no GPRS, at Rs.5700 it appears to be a bit costly. I would recommend you to pay a few hundreds more and go for either Sony Ericsson T230, Motorola C350, Samsung C100 or Alcatel OT 535(All these are feature rich color mobiles). Or you can pay a few hundreds less and go for Sony Ericsson T105.
