I had ventured out for the new year’s eve with my friend and as I was roaming around in the nearby market place I saw a few banners in front of electronics shops advertising various mobile phones.
Though I don’t rate myself as a cell phone expert I was surprised to see a color mobile for nokia for around 5000!!! which I thought was pretty cool. I decided to check it out as I was fairly sick of my motorola c-115 anyway!!!!
It looked very pretty from the outside and I realized the keys would ensure that this cell would be an absolute pleasure for messaging. I made some enquiries with a couple of other shops and once I got a fair exchange deal for my old mobile there was no question of whether to buy this mobile!!!
Nokia 2600 has all the basic functionalities which you would expect from a mobile.
Pros:
User friendliness:
The navigation and interface is very simple and pleasant just like any other Nokia mobile!!!color display only makes it more cooler!!!there are a wide range of themes and backgrounds available so that you dont get bored very soon.
Messaging: All nokia phones are very handy for messaging and this one is no exception!!!! the color background does not hinder your msg typing as it is superimposed with a darker shade when you type msgs!!!also I think nokia has the best options and dictionary facility when it comes to msging.
Spreadsheet: This is a cool application which enables you to record your daily and monthly expenses on a spreadheet!!! you can add rows and edit and it is very useful for someone like me who likes to keep track of the expenses!!!!this would enable you to read the pattern in spending over a period of time.(more lke OLAP, if you know what iam talking about :) )
Ringtones: This mobile supports polyphornic ringtones and contains a very good collection of predefined ringtones!!!also it contains a composer which enables you to edit and send the ringtones !!! please note this option is not available in any high end cell phones.
Games: This cell has just three games one of which is fairly addictive!!!
Having said all that lets look at the things which this mobile does not have Cons: Radio:
It can be said that this mobile is Nokia 6610 without a radio and some other features!!! this mobile would have been pretty handy to have in a place like Blr with all the nasty traffic jams :) !!!!
GPRS: nope !!! , this mobile does not have GPRS !!! :( . so you cant watch any MMS or clippings!!!!!
Camera: are we looking for one in a mobile worth 5000??? iam not!!!!
Voice clarity: having used a motorola before I felt as if the voice wasnt all that loud and clear when compared to my previous mobile but its fairly OK at most of the times!!!!
Overall I think its a decent mobile designed to keep things simple and basic!!!! if you think a mobile is incomplete without camera, internet and stuff then this mobile is not for you!!!! but if you are person like me who wants a simple mobile with display, then go for it!!!!!
PS:I read in one of the reviews that the phone got heated up during a conversation!!!! I never had such an experience(dont want to!!! :))
