The New Folding Phone From Nokia

Nokia 2650

I happened to be using 3310 for past 4 years. Finally it broke & could

not be repaired. Wanted a new colour display mobile phone with MMS &

GPRS. Found all this in Nokia’s latest 2650 unique new folding phone.

Design:

The design is quite unique. It can be easily folded & looks quite

compact when folded. It has an internal antenna so no trouble about

network. The phone looks quite stylish & modern when folded. It is

available in 3 different colours(dark red, black & grey). I have

preferred grey because it gives it a sleek look. Also has the regular

vibrating alert facility.

Features:

It has a 128 x 128 pixel high-resolution, 4096-color display and the

easy to use 4 way scroll. Blinking LED light alerts for incoming calls &

messages makes it more convenient for use in crowded & dark places.

Multimedia Messaging Service(MMS) helps you to download & share images,

ringtones & text messages. Using this service you can also send audio

files in MIDI format.

Java support helps play latest games. The phone comes with 3 games of

which 2 are racing games. Memory is provided to download more games.

Reminder & To-do list is same as 3310. The new feature is the vCalendar

which helps me view successive days, make notes of my meetings & check

out my daily schedule.

Alarm clock with snooze functionality, Call timer, Calculator,

Converter have the same features as other Nokia phones(3310) & no

changes have been made.

Automatic volume control makes talking easy & prevents the over

modulation of voice signal. Hence voice clarity is quite good. Also

automatic keyguard locks the phone after sometime preventing

mishandling.

Phonebook can store upto 250 phone numbers depending on the SIM card.

SMS storage capacity of 50 SMS is available. Ringing message alert tone

is also available.

Personal shortcuts via right soft key makes it more easier for me to

access the menu functions. This is a new feature I guess as compared to

old Nokia phones.

GPRS(General Packet Radio Service) helps me browse the latest online

information like news, mails etc. This is made possible with media rich,

full colour xHTML browser. I can say now that power of internet is in my

hands even when I am on the walk!

Over 30+ language support including English & Hindi makes it possible

for a person knowing only Hindi also to use the phone conveniently.

The basic call management functionalities include summary after call for

keeping track of costs, speed dialing for up to 8 names(this is a very

convenient feature for people like me who are always in a

hurry), automatic redial (max 10 attempts), automatic answer (works with

headset only), call waiting, call hold, call divert, call timer andautomatic and

manual network selection.

The new unique SMS counter facility helps you keep track of the SMS that

you sent.

The battery used is Li-ion battery. It has a talk time of around 25-30

hours & a stand by time of around 300 hours.

You can lit up the screen with various wallpapers & different colours.

Also white backlight gives it an elegant look.

This phone suffices the very purpose for which I needed it like enhanced

memory, colour display, compact design & Java and GPRS support. I use

it for my personal use. I have got the Nokia 7650 for corporate

purposes. Even the cost is not that high. I purchased it from a shop in

Mumbai for Rs.5600/- with bill. If you are looking for a stylish new

phone with all the regular features (except camera) Nokia 2650 would be

a good purchase.
