At last a decent CDMA

Hello Amigos

Got the new 2865 CDMA on the 6th of this month, after a long search for the phone. It was not in stock with most of the dealers in cochin, and the web world outlets had not even heard about it. Anyway was able to get a set from poovath electronics at ernakulam. Biggest mistake i made purchasing the phone from there. I will explain it in detail at the end of the review.

The phone fortunately, for the series it belongs to feels very upmarketish. The gloss black finish is really cool , reminds you of the old 8 series black finish phones. There is a silver strip running around the phone and in between the buttons which give it a stylish contrast breaking the monotony of the black. The biggest surprise was the screen which is huge!!! for the size of the phone, but there is a price to pay for it the buttons are really small and can be cumbersome to type on. The screen has great resolution with very vibrant colours. Everything is very easy to read on this screen and its fun to play games on them also. I was quite apprehensive of the plastic base, but was suprised to feel the quality, its smooth.

The biggest USP of this phone are its connectivity features, it has bluetooth , infrared and wap. Also it has something called a mini browser which is great as you are connected to the internet always!

I have downloaded the pc suite from the nokia-asia site and synching my comp with the phone was a breeze. This is great esp for your contact list .

The memory capacity of the phone is really low at 12 MB, in todays date is pretty pathetic, unfortunately not expandable. But as a realtive business phone its okay and you can store upto 500 names on the phone.

This phone is also based on UIM card, which is a Sim card that is provided for identification. Also u can use this to store additional names and messages.

Other USP of this phone is u have a dedicated button for activating voice tags, a 2.5 mm jack for attaching a headphone and mic.

The other missing feature I found was the wallet application, which is a great app for storing passwords and other important information.

The Battery time is great as it lasts for a good talk time of about 3.5 hrs ( as I am quite a heavy user ) and the other good part is you can use the BL- 5 C batteries also ( its the same size as BL-6c , only the ampere rating is different) . I dont know the standby time as my battery rarely lasts more than a day and a half.

The other great thing is its compatible with most of the bluetooth headphones from nokia, which is great as I have decided to buy either the bh-700 or the bh-800.

On the whole its a good phone, a basic hassle free business phone, which I pesonally feel is what most of us require, and at Rs. 6500 its not too expensive too!
