Okay dokey set

As is usal with my reviews, a lil bit of ’’Bhoomika’’ before I get into the real part...

Now I have some sort of a jinx on cellphones....

It’s like no cellphone can stand my BO or is it coz of some some divine conspiracy...or whatever.....

But the fact is that everytime a purchase a cell, it dies on me in <6 months....

Like my SL45 that gets stolen in 3 months or my Samsung C-100 that I decied to take in my pocket for a dive in the sea.....well it’s an endless list....

Anyway, here I was w-o a cell with <6K in my pocket and I needed to get one asap being the social fella off I go to the closest cell shop and here is the options I had for a <6k budget: (i’m leaving out the likes of Benq and Bird and other such obscure makes...(

  • Nokia 1100 (B/W screen ...ruled out)

  • nokia 2100 (B/W screen...ruled out)

  • Nokia 3100 (Color screen, polyphony, GPRS, hmm worth a look)

  • Samsung C-100 (My trustworthy old cell)

Actuall, that’s about it....U c I had walked into a small shop which didn’t offer much of a choice....not one of thos hi-tech kick-ass shops but a small neighborhood chotta dukaan

Ok, now b/w the C-100 and 3100, I ’d have c hosen the samsung C-100 for the following reasons:

  • 65 k color screen vs. 4096 on 3100 ...means Better color depth u dumb-a*

  • 40 (or is it 45....) tone polyphonevs 16 on Nokia...means better sounding ringtones

  • Better form factor

But I chose the 3100 coz

  • I was sic n tired of using a c-100 for the last 10 months or so and if it was down n out, might as well opt for a change

  • MMS support on the 3100 (Not that any operator offers MMS in this shithoe of a city called Chennai, but having MMS on ur cell still fells good :-)

  • option to choose small fonts thu giving u the illusion of having a bigger creen onthe cell....

  • Handsfree option Now I have been using it for the last 1 month and her’s the final take Voice clarity: Excellent in normal mode..okay in Handsfree mode..but hey this is a hygiene factor...8/10

-Reception Quality: Good, but nothing outstanding...7/10

  • Ergonomics: Ok-good....easy to punch the keys fast while typing sms though not as fast as on a nokia 3310 coz of the rubber keys on this set...7/10

  • Screen quality....Hmm, 4096 colors means the pics on the wallpapaer aren’t brialliant..a let down copared to the Sasung..+ it’s a CFTN dispay (not active TFT/Matrix) which meand it’s difficult to read the screen under strong lights....5/10

  • Looks n style: Now this is a highly subjective opinion.....This isn’t one of those sleek types sets that you’d asociate a typical corporate hi-flyer to carry...With its rubberized-plasticky looks, it looks more like a kid gang-college gng crowd kinda phone (which is perhaps the mkt it’s targeteed at)....Maan, they also give u the option of having blinking lights on ur set when ur cell rings (but u can always swich this off)....i’d say 6/10

  • Firmware Quality: Now some may say that where did this come frm, but with fones gettin more n more like PCs now, this is an important attribute...One of the msot imp ones IMHO after of course the signal recepton and voice clarity ...So far, the cell hasn’t hung or crashed on me once ......hooking it up with a PC to install Java Apps/Wallpapers has been a breeze.... 9/10

-Could have written mor but have too much work to do today...so will update it sometime in the near future...Hope this helps....

Hey, BTW why don’t I get any comments on my reviews at all.....
