Wimmen lurv its cutey-pie good looks. Its small, silver, looks expensive but is not :-) The Nokia 3105 is the loud speaker phone - that promises to cure you of your Dev Anand head tilt. And you if think mobile = camera+ radio+ video, then move on, this ones not for you.
Its the new Tata Indicom CDMA phone. Its prettier than ugly Reliance CDMAs and almost as cost-effective. Here is a quick low-down on the spec check:
2-way speaker: Speaker phones are always 2-way na?
3-way conferencing: Yaani, if you can afford the airtime, then chat away. Or have 2 pals call in at the same time.
Rhythmic backlight that flashes in synch with your ringtone: A la Nokia 2100. Its a huge help when you are on silent mode. Or own XL handbags, like me, containing all items required to survive on a deserted island.
Nokia Fun Camera: An added attachment. If you are gizmo freak, or a lay person, buy it by all means. If you are a camera freak, then do avoid do due photo clarity etc.
Java Games & Applications: Neat. I play games on the 3105 every spare minute. Have downloaded several games from the tatazone.com. If you like games I like, then this helps while away idle time, espeically in metros like mumbai, where you need an occupation while commuting. Specifically, I like Jem Jam (Collapse), Extreme Speed (Car racing) , Dots, and so many others. If I ever escape Carpel Tunnel Syndrome (or mouse fingers that afflict net geeks) my fingers will suffer a disease that sounds scarier.
High-speed connectivity: Yup. Especially at night. Since this is a Tata related service, pl check my review on the the Tata Indicom.
Built-in organizer: Havent used it much as Im online 24/7. However, if you are not, then I guess it maybe a big help. I use the Alarm for 6 am - and it plays Subah Ho Gayi Mamu midi from Munnabhai MBBS :-)
Xpress-on colour covers: I use the default silver right now. Though I am itching to try the orange one.
Personal shortcuts: Umm....from what I gather, shortcuts help reduce clicks. If you have Nokia know-how, then you navigate almost anywhere in 3 clicks without these shortcuts. If you are a Nokia newbie, then it should be a help.
Technical Features:
Volume: 75cc (whatever)
Weight: 86g (Its bliss for women, playboys, and other chatterboxes)
Length: 102mm (I use my old Nokia 2100 plastic cover which fits like a T.)
Width: 43mm
Thickness: 22mm (Lil heavy around the waist. Sounds like a typical woman, but for a mobile of these proportions, I feel its a tad thick)
Now, the important features:
Poly and midi ringtones, voice tags (can show you how to use them via comments) color screensavers and wallpapers (some really good ones), A security code that is actually the default one ( especially good, if you have bought phones from the gray market where they change the codes)
Baddies, or to be politically correct, Areas of Improvement:
Cannot use personal photo as wallpaper/ screensaver, cannot download ringtones from sites other than tatazone.com, nor can you forward ringtones nor compose them. Oh, it hangs ever so often, especially while closing an application. Then I need to re-insert the battery. Painful!
Conclusion:
Looks great, good to use, and cost-effective. You need a Tata Indicom connection and oodles of patience with the service.
