The Last Mobile Phone
Camera, IR, Bluetooth, PDA, FM/AM tuner and whats next? The mobile phone industry is introducing changes at a speed that mortals like me seldom find it easy to keep pace. I am not your gadget crazy whiz kid. I have slipped into the older generation of people who say a mobile phone is primarily to talk and listen. And the enhancements are not linked to the utility value, but to the extra status that they give to people carrying such mobiles!
Now I am sure you have come to the conclusion that I have never used or tried a high-end mobile. Actually, that’s not the truth. My colleague is a proud owner of a Nokia 6600 and my boss has a Samsung D-410. I keep seeing these phones day-in & day-out. And they also seem to use it for nothing more than talking and listening.
I am not saying that those technology enhancements are a waste or anything like that. It’s just that am not able to see what value they add to our lives? We have a completely different product for cameras etc. Use them. Or maybe, the camera manufacturers will slowly start including a receiver, transmitter, speaker and mic into their cameras and call it a camera with a mobile phone... What say? Idea sounds horrible, right?
No, I am not a member of any Camera Manufacturers Associationor something. Am just one of those hundreds of people who continue to wonder what the heck will I do with an IR Port when I dont even have a computer? I am definitely not against computers, they havent been able to make them smaller and cheaper at the same time. So, middle-class people still are able to enjoy the luxury of such technological advancement!

Nokia 3120
After using a Nokia 3310, I graduated to a Nokia 3120, basically because of the arguments I have given above. Lets get straight to the features of the phone. Btw, this phone is a colour screen phone that bears a close resemblance to a Nokia 6230 on the front and a Nokia 3100 from the back.
Features
1. Messages:
Text, Multimedia, Voice and Information types. You also have a message counter that helps you keep a tab on the number of sms you are sending and receiving.
2. Call Register:
You can keep a count of the number, time and person whose calls you have received or missed. And also know about the numbers you have dialed. The best part is that you have a record of the last three times you have dialed that particular number.
The Status-connection of this phone is limited to the GPRS facility it offers. My service provider thinks that’s too complicated for him and he has decided to leave it out of his array of services. So, I am unable to discover that aspect of Net-browsing.
3. Contacts, Profiles, Settings, Extras, Applications & Services
These are identical to what you have in a Nokia 3310. Just that they are rearranged intuitively and very easy to handle.
4. Alarm Clock and Calendar
Alarm Clock has been given extra importance and been given a place on the main menu itself. This is an intelligent move considering that most of us use our mobile phones to set alarms to wake up.
The Calendar again, another fantastic move by Nokia. Somehow Nokias improvements in their phones continue to amaze me. They must have a terrific feedback system. Anyways, the calendar is a nice improvement.
5. Games
You may download any number of games you want from the net if you are connected through GPRS. The phone comes with three default games:
Snake EX2
Beach Rally
Nature Park
Snake is not as much fun as it used to be in the 3310. Beach Rally is a wonderful game. Please dont use keys 4, 5 and 6 to play the game. Use the left, right, up and down arrow keys that are given. I somehow feel those keys give extra acceleration to the car too!
Handling
A Nokia is always human technology. Extremely easy to handle. Once you get used to it, its a pleasure.
It has a silence option when you receive a call. You can mute the ringtone so as to not disturb the meeting or the people around you.
It also has a Loudspeaker. Once the call is connected you can connect to the loudspeaker option and keep the phone in your hands and speak normally. You will be able to hear the voice clearly and the clarity on the other side is also perfect!
It comes with default ringtones that are very catchy. I like almost all of them. Whistle is my favourite though!
Price
At 6.5k, you will not find a better phone. But you should be one of those who doesnt want a camera phone etc. Then this is The Last Phone in your Mobile Phone career. Because the next step is a 6610, which gets you into this technological hi-fi world.

I hope I have given enough details about a mobile phone. This is the first time I am writing a review on mobile phones. I am sure you will let me know how I was at it!
