The most important thing that you should keep in mind before buying a phone is your need for that phone. Make a list of all the features you want and then look for the perfect deal.
I bough Nokia 3315 when it was launched (some 4 years back). I had changed the cover several times, but althought the phone gave no problems, I decided to buy a new one - coz I deserved it. I wanted a latest model that had all relevant features.
My features list included:
A megapixel camera (for capturing useless moments)
Bluetooth and infrared (to connect with my laptop)
Radio (to listen to while I am travelling)
Downloadable games (to pass time when I am waiting at my doctors)
Slot for memory card (so that I can download whatever I want - including songs)
Friendly menu
Ive tried using a lot of phones, but Nokia suits me. Nokia phones look sturdy and their battery life is much better. I shortlisted 3 models that were within my budget of Rs.13, 000/-. These were: Nokia 3230, Nokia 6600, Moto Razr V3.
I decided against Moto Razr as it didnt have memory card slot. The recently launched model V3i has that. Nokia 6600 was too bulky, so I bought this one in December 2005.
Now Ive been using the phone for past 6 months and I am enjoying using the phone. In the beginning I found that the battery got weak very easily, even when I didnt talk on the phone. I realised that was because of the fancy theme that I had used and also because of the incorrect exit from any program/menu. Use the basic (blue/white) theme in the phone and youll notice that youll be able to use your phone without charging for 2-3 days. Also close all the programs properly otherwise they keep running in the background and eat up the battery.
The phone has been performing consistently well. I even downloaded one application through which my camera becomes digicam for my laptop through bluetooth, so that I can do live video chat.
Ive also downloaded a lot of compatibale games.
Get good applications and you will enjoy this phone.
