I recently acquired a Nokia 3230 smart phone. I have been using it for about a month now, so I though that I would enlighten others about this phone.
First off, lets start with the package. The phone came with the usual accessories: a charger, booklet enumerating the features (and huge book it is too!) a hands free headset and a 32 mb memory card. Sweet! But I feel that they could have included a bluetooth usb dongle as well. That would allow me to interface with My PC and take back ups of my phone book and other files.
Now lets take a look at the features of this phone. This phone is one of the few high end phones that feature both a camera and an FM radio. The 1.2 megapixel camera allows 2x zoom, though the picture quality gets progressively grainy with every increase in the zoom factor. However the photo quality is good and the phone makes silly photos look good. It also has a night mode to allow you to take photos in darker conditions.
The phone allows for 1 hour of video recording, dependant on the memory card. Other features of this phone include infrared, GPRS, Edge & Bluetooth. The phone also can be personalised with themes, it has a built in audio recorder, which, unfortunately, does not give very good quality output.
The display is good with a good screen resolution also. However, the key pad is rather small, and this makes the phone look out of proportion. You need to get used to the keypad, but once you do, you will be able to type out a 100 word sms in aroun 30 seconds, if you use the T9 dictionary... a feature common across most Nokia phones.
This phone does not have an automatic keyguard lock! Astonishing for such a high end phone not to have one. The joystick in the center allows u to move around easily in various menu’s. There are some shortcuts to access mails calender and contacts, using just the joystick.This is also useful for playing games.
The phone came with a decent set of games...warrior, Agent V and Rally Pro. The phone has a decent graphics resolution and sound quality is also good considering the cost of the phone.
This phone has its downers, but I would still recommend it. It is good value for your money at Rs. 17999/- with bill and warranty.
