Today I will review a unique product which has got lost in the maze of a plethora of cellphones in the market. I have had this piece for nearly 2 years now and it has been with me through thick and thin (figuratively speakin). This review is about my Nokia 3300.
I bought my Nokia 3300 around 2 years back when I my old Nokia 5510 stopped working suddenly. Incidentally Nokia 3300 was a gift from my sis though I made the purchase. I am happy and lucky that I had the sense to go for this phone as I was lookin at the NGAGE as the option at that time as I love gaming (CS being my favorite).
I bought this piece from an underground dealer in Hyderabad for 6100. This is an original Finland make phone. As accessories I got a data cable, an included 64 mb mmc card (nokia) and a nifty handsfree. Thanks to my dealer again :)
Now coming to the phone. This is a series 40 phone with mp3 and radio capabilities. It has a slot beneath the battery where you would place the MMC card. I have tested out MMCs upto 512 MB without any problems whatsoever. As soon as you connect the 3300 to a Win 2000/XP computer the drivers are automatically installed and it shows up as a flash drive. The data transfer rate is real fast considering it is a USB 2.0 device.
The battery life of the phone is 3 days of normal use and 2 days of intensive use (music or games). Yes, it does support a lot of java games and the bundled games are also a delight!
The unit is very robust considering it has taken the fall atleast 10-15 times now. The covers are interchangeable, though I am not sure about the availability now.
The best thing about the unit is the MP3 player. I would venture as far to suggest that it sounds even better than an IPOD (which I possess and plan to review later). Once you enable the surround function on the phone you can actually get shocked by the virtual sound. The phone supports mp3 and aac (old format). Mp3 suffices and works fine. The handsfree has an inbuilt remote which allows you to sift through songs. Overall I would say this is better than any or most of the phones in the market. One of my buddies sold his 6600 to get one of these :) so you can imagine how good it is.
