Those who have followed my path on MS must have read my review of Fly 2080 mobile phone. In that review, I have, sort of, derided the phone as its developers have created a phone that seems loaded with features, and yet, is not user-friendly. Later, I discovered that the spare parts of Fly phones are NOT available with ANY dealer in Mumbai. Hence, I decided to buy another phone.
After visiting the website of Nokia(the Indian site) and some dealers, including "The Mobile Store" at CST, I zoomed in on Nokia N 73, 3610 and a new introduction called the 5220 Express Music phone on my shortlist. While the 3610 is a bit cheaper than the other two, it has almost all the features that 5220 has. I finally decided to buy the 5220 because of its beautiful look, light weight and because it came with 50 new Hindi film songs preloaded on a free 1 GB micro-SD memory card(expandable to 2 GB)
Its been nearly a month. I purchased the phone at a price of Rs. 7969/- from the Mobile Store. I made a mistake while trying to "activate" the preloaded songs on the phones memory card, and so, had to erase those songs and load some of my own favourites from my PC.
However, I am truly of the opinion that this is a good phone. It weighs just 85 gm, has a coarse but soft, black back-cover, a socket for a 3.5 audio jack that helps to play the FM as well as the music stored on the phone, and superb graphics and sound. It has lights on the side which flash rhythmically with the music. This is really cool. The phone has dedicated music keys which also control the radio volume in the radio mode. It also has bluetooth, is web-enabled and has most of the common features of mobile phones.
The camera is 2 MP, the buttons are nice and the thin, asymmetrical look of the phone is mind-blowing!
A free "lanyard" is also provided and can be inserted in the two holes provided. This enables one to keep hanging on to the phone even when walking, talking and so on.
Finally, it has a fairly good collection of ring tones and other tones too.
On the negative side, it is a bit delicate. While handling it, please be careful that you dont drop it. Also, while adding data to a phone number, I cannot edit the field "label" as I could do with my older 6630. There is no 3G capability and no blackberry functions. It does not come loaded with Symbian software.
