I always wanted my first mobile phone to be somewhat different and what better than Nokia 5510!
I bought it from Singapore in Mar 2002 and so I am using it now for over an year and I am yet to run into somebody else using it. So clearly it has not set sales charts on fire. The reasons are obviously in its radical design and its bulkiness. All in all, its a great phone, it would have been perfect had it been lighter but I guess the sheer number of features it had add up to the weight :-)
Its rugged (has already survived so many falls from my hand), SMSing from this phone is absolutely a bliss (in fact I am now totally hooked to it and just cannot manage the irritating typing routine in a regular phone. All my friends wonder how I manage such long messages so fast), the FM radio is great (ever been stuck in a traffic jam in Taxi with nothing but noise all around. It can help, familiar and proven Nokia interface, Gaming with 2 hands is also great fun. The best part is the eyeballs it catches every time I take it out. A great conversation starter!
Problems are- User Grouping is not there, Only one number per Address book entry, WEIGHT and BULK, the fact that its very difficult to dial in numbers using only one hand (so if u dial lots of numbers on the move, this one could be tricky to master), no picture/melody editor. Its very slow to boot and sometimes it takes as long as a second to respond to keyboard entry, which could be irritating.
