5800 Music Xpress - a smart choice

Nokia 5800 Express Music - Perfect Value For Money And A Great Gadget To Carry With

I bought a Nokia 5800 Music Express(black) during April 2010. Price was around Rs.13800.

So it has been almost 12 months with this phone by now.(I wanted to post this review long time back, but somehow I missed it; but better late than never:))

Before buying the phone I had done my research on features(that I need and really use) and price of some smart phone available in the market. I was keener on considering a brand other than Nokia as I have been mostly using Nokia phones till date. However for the price and feature I was looking, this phone(Nokia 5800 Music Express) turned out to be the smartest choice of all.

I am mentioning few points that you would like to know as a prospective buyer of this phone

  1. Price: It was around Rs.13800(Nokia priority dealer price) around April this last year(2010). So I expect the current price may be something around Rs 9-10k currently.

  2. Features: As usual, this Nokia smart phone is loaded with all the features that one will need.

i. Camera - Nokia 5800 comes with a 3.2 MP camera on back and a VGA camera on the front.

Honestly picture quality from the main camera is decent if not great. So you may not need to carry your digital camera everywhere to take pictures. I have also printed few of the pictures taken from the mobile camera and they look fine for 5x7 print.

ii. Music Player – Awesome is the word that describes the music capability of the phone. It is awesome with the mp3 stored in the 8 gigs memory card as well as the built in visual radio. I do generally use the FM radio with my BOSE speakers and it gives me a awesome quality of music. In fact I am listening to another nice tune on Red FM while writing this post.

iii. GPRS(3/3.5G) compatibility – Yes, it is a 3G phone and works great as a modem on 3G networks. I use it as a modem on my PC as well as use the phone’s big enough screen to browse social networks to stay in touch with my friends and peers.

iv. Applications – Nokia S60 has still got enough popularity(at least in Asian / European countries) and has got a huge base of free as well as premium applications. Ovi stores has loads of application of each categories like utilities, games, themes etc. I have never bought any application from OVI but the free apps are enough to solve my purpose.

v. Accessories – This phone comes with following stuffs on the box.

  • 8 GB memory card

  • A in-ear headset.

  • A behind the ear head phone.

  • Nokia PC Suite CD

  • Portable charger

  • USB cable for connecting with PC
