This is classic example of beauty without or we can say little lesser brains.You can only praise this for its looks. Features are also present (in the spec sheet only).
I found a few issues in my handset.
1) Its coveted GPS never worked even when I put it for detecting satellite signal for the WHOLE day out in the open. dont know why it is doing that. My n82 picks up satellite signal in 5 mins flat (that too is slow, but I happened to be a nokia fan).
2) It’s screen changes colors like its HOLI 24*7. I am not saying wallpapers or themes. The back color of the phone changes.This freaked me out from Day 0. My vendor says it is not his responsibility and I should see a nokia care center. Great going nokia. The shop I bought from is listed as authorized reseller on the website of NOKIA. I was expecting a bit of customer care there itself.
3) The bundled headsfree at its best is pretty useless if you are a biker. They should have opt for the one that comes bundled with N82.
4) The phone speakers are not at all loud. If you want to have a conference call, beware.
5) The browser is good except for it freezes 3 out of 5 times.
6) The interface could have done with a little more imagination such as being able to add more shortcuts to the home screen etc.
7) Internet is abuzz about a firmware update 20.x, but it is not available for India. WHY? only nokia knows.
Otherwise,
the music is just superb, almost making me dump my MP3 player. I used the headphones of MP3 player with the 5800 as the bundled ones do not do justice for the music.
The camera at its best is pretty average for 3.2 MP.
WIFI is good too.
Gaming is also good.
Call quality is as usual.
Last but not the least , for future buyers of this phone, there are some issues about speakers as per a statement by nokia itself.
SO BE CAREFUL WHILE BUYING THIS HANDSET. TRY ALL THE FEATURES AT THE RESELLER.
Update: The phone’s build quality is very questionable. The joints have visible gaps. The service center people say it is not under warranty. So please check for those if you ever have an urge to buy this phone.
