This is my first review on mouthshut ! Thought to share the bad experience I had with this mobile.
I bought this mobile after much research and going thru all the features and reviews on the internet again and again.
I wanted to avoid camera at any cost so bought this phone in Sept 2005. Ok price, INR 6450.
It worked just fine as a typical Nokia 6 series phones.. no nonsense phones!
Cons:
- Joystick: I did not like the joystick usage as I was used to 4 way keys and two soft keys. Plus lot of dust acumulates there which is bad.
Bulk SMS deletion is just pathetic with joystick as you want to read so many sms one by one and then delete it if required. It cannot be done that fast with joystick coming into picture.
Connectivity was a bit of a problem as I did not experience smooth and reliable connectivity with bluetooth. Many time the PC Suite failed to recognise the phone bluetooth.
I did not like the phone manual too as it was very short and did not explain quite a few things.
Push to talk: useless functionality as the dedicated key cannot be assigned for any other use and bothers you from time to time even if you turn the functionality off. The manual mentions of assigning voice recording to this key, but it doesn’t work !
Very inconvenient to start voice recording when in the midst of a call, you have to browse thru the menu or the shortcut and then start it which is bad. I’d expect one click start of recording anytime.
Other than above the phone is good for overall usage.
Now the worst part..
After 9-10 months of usage my phone started hanging time to time. This was because the Push To Talk key.
The phone remained lit up till the battery drained out and displayed message "PTT is off, turn it on now?"
With autokeypad lock on, it was impossible to make the phone functional without removing battery and restarting it. The power on key also did not work at thie time.
I took the phone to HCL infinet nokia service centre, Marol Naka Mumbai.
They returned it to me promplty in 2 days as repaired. But before I could reach my home in a rickshaw, the phone showed the same problem.
I took a U turn and threw the phone back again to them.
This time they took over a month just saying the phone is sent to Delhi for repair and there is no standby handset given. To add to my worries that I had 2 sim cards and no phone.
After constant followup and calls I got my phone fully functional as before after a month. I was happy but the same problem came in two weeks. This time the phone just refused to work !!
I went back to the service center again which boasts of ISO 9001 compliance.
I Was worried as my warranty would expire in few days...!
This time they again took 1.5 months and one fine day when I called, came to know that my phone is scrapped because of hardware fault..!
They gave me a low end replacement Nokia 6060 which doesn’t have any connectivity and voice features...! They told to me that nokia 6021 is discontinued from the market now!
Having pained for 2.5 months, I took the replacement and complained to Nokia at 30303838. They plainly said that Nokia did not give any replacement and my phone is out of warranty.
It was a very dissatisfying experience with them in my 2.5 months of regular complaints to them about the repair duration.
I went back to the service center and had a fight there. They said there are no. of cases where Nokia denies that they have given any replacement but in reality gives lower end models. further they added that we are vendors only and replacement decision is taken by the company.
It was very painful following up all the time and was a mentally disturbing experience as you cannot to anything but to see your hard earned money vanishing in thin air..!
I even wrote to Nokia through the website which says you will get a reply in 24 hrs.. but I did not get any ..!
I would hesitate to buy any other high end nokia handset now because the after sales service is just pathetic!
