The nokia 6030 comes as a pleasant surprise. Another one from nokia that offers you good value for money. The first thing that gets you is the rich colour display, very nice for a entry level phone. It has a very good ’’structure’’, straight and rounded at the edges. The keypad is well laid out, but the number keys feel small and cramped, so dont expect to fire off a chain of sms’s as soon as you get ur hands on this phone, but you will once u get the hang of it. The phone, shall I say. ’’tries’’ to make up for the absence of a camera with a built in fm radio. It offers you very good sound quality, and yes it has a loudspeaker option too. You can store upto 20 radio channels on it. When you plug in the headset, you can use the button on the headset unit to change the station. The earpieces are great, but the cushion colour they come in is white ! You will use them in your ear, so make sure you clean your ears regularly, else the white cushion will emerge as a black one ! One more simple feature that needs notice is the flash message in the sending messages option. Simply key in the message and the number you want to send it to, and it shows the message directly on the screen of the receipient, they dont need to access the inbox section of their phone. Nice way when you have to send something urgent, but if it was that urgent you would rather call, wudnt you?
You have to keep the headset plugged into the phone even when you want to listen to the radio via the loudspeaker. When you place the phone this way on the table the wires tend to tangle around books and other such stationary. And yes, the sound still plays through the earpieces even in the loudspeaker mode!!! Thats an odd suprise. Dont forget anyones birthdays with the useful calendar feature. The number keys arent exactly flat, so your fingers tend to slip off when you are keying in a number or an sms, but this shudnt be a major problem as you will get used to it. Only one game in the phone, maybe because you can download more later.
Overall a very good phone, with a lot of positive points. Negative points? This phone has a slightly slow GUI ( that is Graphical User Interface for those of you who skipped computer class). I cant really say that this can be grouped under a negative point, but I couldnt find any other significant feature yet, but if and when I do, I will post it here.
