Folks lets talk nokia ..nokia 6230
i was on hunt of a good decent cell phone with some features that makes it more than just a talking device without chipping in a very hefty amount for that.
on my little tenure of research I came across a lot of fascinating models from nokia, sony ericsson & motorola.
the model I really considered to go for were -
motorola e398 - great sound quality.. the supported card TF is very expensive and mostly not available.
SE 700i - nice look and graphics.. gosh the memory is not expandeble!
nokia 6600 - a proven phone but too many palms are holding this one.. not as feature riched though.
nokia 3230 - great looks and megapixel cam.. did not like the sound quality.
so finally zeroed upon handy nokia 6230.
you name a feature - it has it..
1.still & video camera ( VGA 640*480 though.. now megapixel 6230i is also available! any way a phone is a phone - the best mega-pixels can not compete with my 5mp canon right ? it is only to share joyful moments among friends & it fulfils the purpose pretty good.
- the only feature I miss sometime is zoom .. in vga cam it is not mandatory though.
2.mp3 player - the most cool feature and one of the best sound quality you gat in the market and hey it is stereophonic too, just get a 1 gb MMC card and carry your numbers ..takes very little time to transfer if you have a card-reader ( ooonly 300 bucks these days ). you can set those mp3s as ring tones too.
3.fm radio - another cool feature for music buffs. excellent sound quality and 20 stations can be stored.
4.bluetooth - the in thing! no need to involve your connection provider and get charged for sending files. transfer any files or use handfrees wireless. world is going wire and paper less buddies.
5.series 40 - java games and applications are downloadable - get all the good games under the sun downloaded. not a symbian though where you can play QD supported games or get hold of thousand applications. still java is enough for quenching download thirst.
6.TFT screen - amazingly clear graphics though on a comparatively small screen. only 128128 pixels ( 196196 being standard among big screen phones - N6600, 3230, SE700i )
7.e-mail application - enables you to download yor e-mails on go. it is like you have a outlook express built in and you get e-mails sent and recieved as and when you want. Very handy application for corporate executives though a service provider specific feature and mine does not work with hutch delhi!
8.edge - I understand this is broadband internet in built in your phone .. most probably lets you browse 150kbps speed. I havent check this feature personally,
the surfing rates would also be a big constraint. would be handy if GSM players introduce some flat unlimited access packege like reliance did.
but I personally never felt cell phones can be a good alternatives for pc - surfings.
there are lot other popular feaures such as MMS, powerful speaker phone, calendar, calculator, currency converter, dictionary, alarm, in-built browser..( and most possibly im missing out on 1 or 2 )
so here is the deal..it certainly not the most attractive phone under the sun. and it is all about your priorities - remember -
this is not one of those stunning looking symbians.
not the best camera on the market
here is how I would put this - you can go for 6230 - a handy, good looking, feature packed, value-for-money, practical phone which is available slightly under 14k..
as far as my experience goes it does excellent as basic phone in terms catching signals and clarity. certainly do wonders when it comes to music playing and a
decent performer when comes to camera and other applications.
your choice consumer!!!
