First of all, let me thank everyone who has added me into his/her trust list after March 15. I had been busy and could not reply to those members. Even my e-mail inbox was overflowing with unreplied messages. Thanks all you MSians! Im back full-time to mouthshut now and do what you may, I am here to stay. Lets now switch topics and discuss the Nokia 6230i.
WHERE & WHEN
The Nokia 6230i does not belong to me. It belongs to my elder sister. I am still stuck with my 6220! Anyway, I do know a lot about the phone. The phone was bought in February 2006 from a dealer (not Nokia Priority outlet) for Rs 12, 300.
I was suggesting the Nokia 6630 or the Sony Ericcson W550i but the nubile looks of the phone convinced my sister that this one was hers. I still think that the 6630 and W550i would have been better buys......
ABOUT THE PHONE
The 6230i is a decent phone, but not the best around by any strech of the imagination. I would still recommend the phone though since it is packed to the brim with all features such as:-
MP3 playback
Bluetooth and Infrared connectivity
Push to Talk
Extendable Memory
1.3 mega-pixel camera
FM radio and voice recorder
SMS , MMS and GPRS-compatible along with other standard features like alarm clock (6220 has a better alarm) and contacts book.
Games
All these functions work quite well, except the alarm clock, which always rings on ascending tone! Sorry, no options there.
NEGATIVES
All other features except the ones written below are good, so there is no separate positives column. Here goes:-
- The Alarm Clock
It is nothing like the 6220 although it does ring even if the phone is switched off. Nokia should look into this.
- Poor Battery Life
I do not know about others, but I feel that the battery life is nothing great on this phone. The phone needs to be charged everyday for heavens sake!
- Screen Size
A tad too small. This is the area in which this phone loses out! Videos and photos cannot be enjoyed to the maximum due to the small screen size.
FINAL VERDICT
You cannot go wrong with this phone; it is the jack of all trades. But for flashy buyers, the 6630 will hold more appeal.
