I upgraded to Nokia 6233, from Nokia 6021. Some of the features I looked for in a mobile phone for everyday life are
Looks & Construction
Nokia 6233 is hardly a simple and elegant design. And the "premium" feel eludes with the chrome outer lining and button in-betweens. The construction is quite sturdy and even after some 4 hard drops, the body doesn’t crack. Typical Nokia.
Camera & Music
6233 is packed with a mediocre quality 2MP camera which shoots decent quality photos in sunlight. In the nights, the quality degrades and there is lots of image-noise in the pictures. The Videos are amazing with a VGA quality video capture at 25fps(i guess) quality. The length of the capture is determined by the free space in the memory card. It officially supports upto 2GB memory cards. The music player is a basic S40 things, but has been upgraded with some tweaks. Should suffice basic music listening. It supports MP3, AAC etc.
Calls, Contacts & Messaging
Excellent contact management and a good SMS editor. It supports MMS as well. Also you can store all messages in the memory card. This means - unlimited message storing capacity. Enjoy the messages from your loved ones for life long. or those cracking joke forwards.Nokia supports conference calls and call waiting. Switching thru calls is very easy and should be very helpful for those people who make conference calls seldom.
Speakers
6233 is a rare piece, which boasts two speakers and you can enjoy Stereo music and Radio. The sound quality is crisp and loud.
Apps
Nokia 6233 supports Java and Flash Lite apps. You can install Java apps using the supplied Nokai PC Suite. Also Flash Lite apps are supported. Amazing for entry level business apps.
Connectivity & 3G
Supports A2DP Stereo Bluetooth, Infrared and Cable. Apart from these basic connectivity, this model featuers 3G support. So if you use this phone with Edge / 3G carriers, you can experience a good speed in accessing mobile internet. The default internet browser is just okay for basic surfing. To experience a better internet, install Opera 4.2. You will love it.
Performance
A perfect hardware and firmware. 6233 has been considered as one of Nokia’s best engineered products in the S40 series. The performance is topnotch and there is no lag or hang-ups.
Battery
6233’s battery is a work horse. Supports upto 4 hours of continuous talk and lasts upto 2 days with heavy usage. The piece never gets heated up due to the little thick construction. So you dont need to switch the phone from left to right and right to left ears.
Conclusion:
An excellent piece of trustable phone from Nokia. Packs all the features everyone would look for. Great for long talks, and fits good for entry level business usage. Supports Audio and Video entertainment.
