As a member of the soon-to-be-moribund CDMA brigade, this phone gave me at least one reason to stick on with CDMA , not that this is a very convincing reason though !!
Why CDMA?
I stick on to CDMA due to net-connect, heavy STD usage (though GSM has almost caught up in STD billing, but roaming still remains the last bastion of CDMA) and CDMA inertia.
I dont see why anyone should be on CDMA if he/she does restrained by any two of the above three reasons.
To summarise in lay terms in favor of GSM:
Good handsets across a wide price range
Operator Freedom
Airtime pricing no more high compared to CDMA (CDMA is no less now)
Now that Mr. Ambani is upto the GSM stunt, it makes CDMA a lesser contender to go with
*Now Nokia & 6275i..
*I bought 6275 for 10K (actually 9K, got 10% cashback on Credit Card). I think that Nokia should be chosen over
LG - for battery life and build quality reasons, though LG CDMAs are aggressively priced
Classic - Junk from China. To be ignored
Motorola - Too expensive in CDMA , though good on other counts (even worse than Nokia CDMA
pricing)
Nokia therefore is a safe bet.
*Finally 6275 Nokia
The only option around 10K price point in Nokia
6265 sucks due to price and features are similar to 6265 (well most features that most ppl would care about, price arount 14K)
Good display (same 6300 Nokia, but 262K colors instead of 6300s 16 million)
Sleek and good looking (Am talking in CDMA terms only)
Netconnect speed decent when using bluetooth instead of cable for laptop connectivity.
Bundled with 256 K memory and a headset
Not very bulky compared to other CDMAs
CA-53 cable to connect to laptop configures in a jiffy using Nokia PC Suite
21 MB internal memory sufficient for many apps
One can download Opera Mini browser and use it to surf on the cell itself. Quite good.
Music quality reasonable
Camera good + flash. Average in dim light. Good in normal light.
*Now Cons..
*- Bundled 350 mAh charger takes 3 hrs to charge the phone fully. Should have had a higher capacity charger. You will need to buy a separate charger in case you want 1 hr charging.
Radio is average
Menu grid is basic, unlike N Series and others that have a grid + drop down menu stucture (this is a s40 platform phone)
Vibrator is not strong, you might miss it if too engrossed (always keep the vol on max on this !)
All in all decent for CDMA.
Simlilar featured GSM should cost 9K(so 1K CDMA permium)
Charging time with the bundled charger quite irritating.
I charge twice in three-four days. (1 hr talktime and 2.5 hrs surf time everyday)
Go for it if youre in love with CDMA !
Hope I was useful.
