Nokia 6300--A Real slicker

I never was a nokia fan because of its looks. But Finally Nokia seems to have given asthetics and ergonomics some consideration- a far cry from their run of the mill bulky and wierd designs- all big, fat, heavy power guzzlers, yet damn good and dependable. So what’s the hoo haa bout the 6300 then?

While buying a cellphone one should keep in mind that the major function of the device is that of a communicator. Anything else(all the jazz) is extra add on. It would be unwise to seek a professional camera or a juke box from a cell phone or one of these days a BP monitor .  Dito when people crib about lesser memory in a phone. The primary function of a phone is not fancy data storage. Its about communicating, strong signals and resonable power supply.

In one line-this cell  is sleek with a punch. And it doesn’t compromise on ergonomics  or features either. If you are one of those who has been longing for a slender all offering resonably priced phone

then perhaps its time to exchange your old set for the  Nokia 6300. What’s in the offering then?

The Metal body mixed with geaming black plastic looks downright sophisticated, stylish yet elegant.

Yeah nothing garrsih about this one. Its quite thin and light though  and approximately 10.5 cm x 40.5 cm x 1.2cm,  which makes it slightly on the taller and broader size of things. The screen(31 X 42 mm) is big and crispy enough to give a 3d effect. Compact build.that you can feel when you grip the phobe hard. A 4-way joystick, surrounded by the usual 4 power/back/call buttons and the 12 key regular keypad. Though initially it felt that the keys are too close(this is the case with most phones) after a few plays you get use to it.

So as far as looks and layout goes, this baby scores a perfect 9 on a scale of ten. Hang the f#%k on folks!  We know its not all about dropdead looks. We need the firepower as well. Let’s see-

Basic amneties:

1.Reception is top class. Great call clarity. THis is the most important aspect of a cellphone.

2.Menus- Fabulous and fastPerformance- Ez to navigate.

3.Upto 348 hours of battery life is cool. 4.5 hours of standby is what I got after rinsing it.

Connectivity: GPRS, EDGE, HSDSC, BT, USB and tri-band. Er wot else would ya need?

Camera- 2MP, Grat 16 M TFT display. Believe me, the display is awesome.

Music- Well well, MP3/MP4 player & FM stereo- CAn add a memory card to boost storage.

Browser- WAP2, Xhtml even this is under-utilized in India

Memory: Add on cards

Along with those you have the regular calulator, voice commands, java games, memory expansion slots, multimedia messaging, polyphonic tones and the rest of the jazz to make the nokia-6300 a quite pleasant  utility phone.

High end phone? What more plausible features are there in a high end phone that you are not

getting in this one? You might consider a beefy PDA then mate! Ahh the price. My local dicky’s

are selling between- surpirse- 11k round about. And it is definately a great value for money buy.

Yes at the end of the day it is functionality at an affordable rate.

I’m gonna get mine in April. Go for it if you need a great elegant phone loaded with features at a

not so steep price tag
