For Rs. 10000 nokia 6600 was the obvious choice. Loaded with so many features this is an attractive buy. The phones comes with a charger, manual, 64 MB mmc card and 2 software cd’s.
The 0.3 megapixel camera with 2X zoom captures low quality images at a resolution of 640X480. They are a bit grainy and from a weak camera like this you can’t expect much. You must be close to the object to capture decent quality images. The night mode is really useful but wouldn’t work when there is no light at all. The videos captured are alomost useless. The sound is very scratchy and barely audible.
You must have ultra mp3 installed in the phone to play mp3 files. The mono speakers produce decent quality sound but it’s no ipod. Sound lacks both bass and clarity. Headphones will make things good but still not great.
The 65K colour 176X208 TFT screen does produce good contrast and brightness but it’s not the best quality and newer phones provides slightly better picture. But it’s definitely pretty good. The visibility under the sun is good no problems with that.
The body and design is not that great imo. The keypad is made of plastic and doesn’t give you any special feel or comfort. But’s it’s good enough for long usage and wouldn’t make your fingers sore.
Misc. notes
The phone supports plenty of softwares. When it comes to software compability this
is really very good and beats sony ericsson k700i.
The phone lacks FM.
The phone takes about 30 seconds to start.
Unlimited video recording can be done by using third party softwares.
Memory can be expaned via the MMC slot provided.
Bulky phone @ 122gms.
Battery is very good. Charges quickly and gives very good backup.
Phonebook lets you keep pictures of the person as well. cool.
You can surf the web using WAP or GPRS
You can connect the phone to your PC using bluetooth or infrared.
Full screen movies can be played only by using third party softwares like smart movie in Avi format
Verdict
If you want a smartphone and have a budget of 9k to 10k the nokia 6600 is the phone for you. However I suggest that you go for 3230 or 7610 for a lil more money as they have better features. Overall nokia 6600 gets 8/10. The decision is up to you. Good luck.
