I was planning to buy a new Cell Phone since the past couple of months, about a month or so back finally shortlisted Sony Ericsson K700i and Nokia 6600. I have been a fan of Sony Ericsson since a long long time and had been using a T610 since the past year and a half - so that sort of loaded the dice heavily in favor of the K700i.
It was surely a difficult decision to make and I kept on changing my mind, finally what clinched the issue in favor of Nokia 6600 was the facility to put in a MMC card, whereas the runner up only had a fixed memory of 31 MB. So there I went and got in touch with the dealer and got a Brand New Nokia 6600 all shiny & Bright (Didnt remove the scratch protector from the screen for a month......he he he)
The box contained the phone itself, the batteries, the charger as well as a Handsfree Headset along with the Manuals and the Software CD. Did I forget to mention the complimentary 32 MB MMC card that ships with the phone???? So here I was ready and eager to start using my shiny new phone ( of course with the screen scratch protector.........so what if it was uncomfortable against the ear during a phone call)
The Voice quality without doubt was really good, in most locations I got a decent signal of my service provider - I got an okay signal where my earlier T610 used to give up on me. The screen was really good, and more importantly big enough to make sense of using the inbuilt camera. Personally I am not very satisfied with the image quality the camera provides, however some people find it to be pretty reasonable.
The video camera is not worth writing home about, with the restriction of only 9 mins of a clip recording. The design initially appears a bit bulky, but the phone fits into the arm perfectly and is quite comfortable during a call.
The features are endless and impressive, however I have not been able to use the PC Suite Software provided along with the Phone. For some strange reason, my phone does transfer data with my computer, but does not show while using the Nokia PC Suite Software. Have tried most of the possibilities, but nothing seems to be working as of now. Did get in touch with the dealer also, hey but we all know how computer savvy are the people we buy our cell phones from.
Along with the complimentary MMC card Nokia only provides certain Trial Copies of the software, which stop working after a few number of uses. However your friendly neighbourhood Mobile dealer would be more than happy to provide you with most softwares for a small sum of money. ( Make no mistake, all these software are pirated, use at your own risk)
Before I forget, the phone takes certain amount of getting used to - its functions are not as easy as most other Nokia Phones, to make full use of this phone you definitely need to be computer savvy.
All in all a good buy, which is keeping me happy. (Time to take off the Screen Protector, its accumulating dust at the corners......)
