Entry-level Camera mobile phone

The Nokia 6610i happens to be one of the best mobile phones in its range of entry-level camera mobile phones. Being a Nokia mobile phone, there is always a good support available.

I had brought the Nokia 6610i mobile phone in December 2005. I had originally set out to buy the Nokia 6030 phone as I wanted a mobile phone with a FM radio. But then I found out that the Nokia 6030, did not have any scope for enhancements like the Data Cable, Camera, etc. And for just Rs.1000 higher, The Nokia 6610i, provided a In-built camera and a Data Cable enhancement. Data Cables(DKU-5/CA-42) for Nokia phones are available for around Rs.1500 if you buy the original ones, however cheaper ones from Gaffar Market/Palika are available for around Rs.400-500. I then went ahead and got the Nokia 6610i phone for Rs.5200. Besides the Data Cable enhancement and the In-built camera, the Nokia 6610i, also had Infrared allowing for some wirelss data transfer between 2 phones.

Looks -

Lookswise the Nokia 6610i is cool, especially in the grey colour which I have.

Usage -

Being a Nokia mobile phone, the Nokia 6610i is a easy to use mobile phone and the 4-way navigation key makes it easier. Also, the size of keys is just right and they are well spaced out leaving very little scope to press the keys wrongly.

Display -

The Nokia 6610i mobile phone, provides a 4096(4k) color display. But with a mobile phone in the range of Rs.5000-6000, it is not bad. Also, the brightness, can also be adjusted by going into "Settings".

Sound quality -

Despite using a MTNL Dolphin connection, still the sound quality of the Nokia 6610i is good and it is very clear. There are no breakdowns in the voice, however sometimes the voice echoes due to the network disturbance in MTNL Dolphin. The sound quality, usually depends upon the network service provider.

Ringtones -

The Nokia 6610i, provides 8-chord polyphonic ringing tones. Also, some polyphonic ringtones are In-built as well provided by Nokia.

Handling -

Being one of the earlier mobile phones of Nokia, Nokia, has continued its tradition of providing mobile phones, which can be handled roughly as well. Despite having fallen many times, the phone still works perfectly. It can be a very good 2nd mobile phone option for those who used the Nokia 3310/1100 as their 1st mobile phone.

Connectivity -

The Nokia 6610i, provides a connectivity option in the form of Infrared enabling for some wireless data transfer. However, Nokia 6610i, being a mobile phone in the range of Rs.5000-6000, does not offer any Bluetooth. A disadvantage is that the Nokia infrared devices do not usually connect with the Sony Ericcson infrared devices. The Nokia 6610i, also provides a Data Cable(DKU-5/CA-42) enhancement capability for Data transfer between the PC and the mobile phone using Nokia PC Suite. Also, being a colour phone, the Nokia 6610i, also provides GPRS(General Packet Radio Service)/WAP connectivity for wireless internet. The GPRS/WAP services, depend on the network service provider.

FM Radio -

The Nokia 6610i, provides a FM Radio as well. The voice of the FM Radio is very clear and the FM Radio signals come very clearly even when they are unclear in traditional radio sets. However, the FM Radio, cannot be listened simultaneously by both Headset and Loudspeaker. When the FM radio is listened by the loudspeaker, the headset does not work.

Camera -

The Nokia 6610i, is one of the 1st camera mobile phones created by Nokia. Being a entry-level camera phone, the picture quality of the Nokia 6610i is not too clear, but still the photos are viewable and the quality of the camera is average.

Battery Life -

The Battery life of the Nokia 6610i is good and on recharging to full battery, it works for almost 2-3 days if it is not used too much.

Overall Description -

Overall, the Nokia 6610i is a good phone for those who are looking for a colour Mobile Phone with FM Radio in the range of Rs.5000-6000. However, you should not buy this phone for its camera as it will be a disappointment then as the camera quality is not that good. It is still a good entry-level camera mobile phone.
