This is one of the first attempts by nokia to encourage the SMS habit. It is expected that by 2006, the data market (SMS, VoIP) is expected to grow by 70%. Already this phone is a rage in Europe, where its unique keyboard allows you to rapidly churn out messages by the dozen.
The design as such is very sober and straightforward in its resting position.
However when you flip it open, you are presented with a fully featured PC keyboard
with the ability to type out the entire ASCII set. The phone screen will rotate by 90 degrees when you are in SMS mode.
Salient Features
Fully functional calender and to-do list that can be synced with Outlook.
3 minute voice recorder, polyphonic rings, full feature email client.
Limited Java capability (though the Series 60 phones like 3650 and N-Gage have improved on this.
MMS capable: Allows for sending image, text and sound with SMS. pretty neat considering the processing power and memory.
Battery Life: 4.5 hours talk time, 10 days standby. 1 hour rapid charging.
Connectivity: GPRS/GSM, dual band. Syncing is done via IR.
Dimensions and Specs
This is out of my manual.
It is 4.67 by 2.15 by 0.91. Slightly larger than
the compact phones out there. LCD has resolution of 128x128 pixels
and can display 4096 colours.
Personal Opinion: A decent substitute for a PDA which also doubles up as a great phone. It would have been nice if it was a world phone. Bluetooth connectivity is also lacking which is usually present on phones in this price range.
