It was time to change my dad’s cell phone as he was using an out dated Nokia phone. He was pretty clear on what he was looking for:
Large Display
Camera
FM Radio
No Touch Screen
At my house, if it’s a cell phone… Its Nokia.
With these specifications, we started checking for available options and ended up at Nokia 7230. It is a nice stylish slide phone, with all default applications available in other Nokia devices like 5130+ 3G enabled. However, there isn’t any video calling available on this phone.
Nokia has ensured to deliver good basic requirements on this phone, like Voice Clarity & Signal reception. The speakers are pretty loud and ensure you don’t miss a call even when the television is in high volume! Also, the display is larger by ¼ inch(compared to Nokia 5130 / 5310) and has an extra large font, which means you don’t strain your eyes when you are looking at the phone under direct sunlight. However, the graphics look old and lacks color.
The radio reception is quite good and has a good looking music player.
It comes with a 2 GB card free – That is, no need to buy a new card along with a new cell phone, if you are a moderate user! Its also, download friendly and one could use all the games, applications, wallpapers and themes which are available for Nokia 5130
The Camera with 3.2 MP lacks a flash & video quality could have been better.
Though the basics are pretty well done, the phone lacks user friendliness, which you could experience in other Nokia phones like 5130, 5310 or 6212. Some of the organizer functions & setting functions have been put under the applications section, which makes application section larger and quite confusing initially(i.e. if you are used to the phones specified above).
To my surprise, the phone does not come with a USB cable and also, you wouldn’t get any songs free in this model.
The model is currently available in 2 colors – Black and Pink
With a price tag of Rs. 5700/- & the brand, it makes a good value for money.
My dad was happy to use it & I feel it’s a good buy.
