I have been using the 8310 for more than a year now. Here is what I feel about the piece
Size : Itll be the first thing that youll notice about this 8310. So small, so compact. But dont let its size fool you. Its got really powerful features for its size.
Battery : Initially I thought that for such a small battery, Ill have to keep recharging every alternate day. But even after listening to the radio for the whole day in office, its still got lots of juice left.
Looks : Very trendy, stunning looks. Ive got quite a few compliments for the phone. Especially in functions, parties, in the evenings, where the phone glows like a star.
Ringtone : Heres the first problem. Ringtones dont have that powerful a volume which I can hear over bike when riding. So, I have to feel if its vibrating.
Keypad : Nokia has put in a lot of thought in assembling the keypad. For such a size, fitting so big into the place with space in between is a good effort.
Reception : To give you an idea about the reception, Ill tell you about the road on which I travel to office. In Mumbai, Ghodbunder Road is surrounded by mountains and all other models lose reception long before my cell comes down to 1 stick. Good reception even in such a bad terrain.
LCD & Phone light : To tell you the truth, during power failures, Ive used my cell phone to navigate the stair case to reach my house. :) Decent backlight with minimum power usage.
Miscellanous points : Ive had almost no problems with the Nokia 8310. I said almost no because, once the phone just hanged up, then shut down and restarted on its own when I was typing an SMS too fast. After that it has been working just fine. I tried simulating that problem again, but couldnt. So Ive associated the problem with a software fault and laid the matter to rest.
All in all, its a good phone. Puts you in the center of discussion when people compare their sets with yours.
