Nokia E51 - This is why Nokia Leads

A world class product from the stables of world’s largest phone manufacturer, Nokia. The E51 is likely a direct replacement of the NOKIA E50 though in terms of appearance it looks like an slimmed-down version of the NOKIA E90 without the QWERTY keyboard. But there is more about the NOKIA E51 than that meets the eye.

The design has been such that it makes an impression of the perfectly designed phone ever. At an amazing 12mm, it is one of the leaner enterprise devices from Nokia. From the specs we can understand that the slim, elegant design of the Nokia E51 has more to it than that meets the eye. To very simply put it the design approach is an elegant, safe and a reserved one.

Nokia didn’t try out any fancy  tricks to this Nokia E51, its a simple looking business phone like the E50 and the 6300 but packs in lot more features. The phone though stands tall is very compact and can fit comfortably in the pocket. The modest 2-inch QVGA display with an ambient light sensor is customizable to light up when there is an incoming text/multimedia messages or emails.

The great aspect about this screen is that it is readable even in bright outdoor conditions. Connectivity and reception is the strong point of the E51. It features Bluetooth with AD2P, USB 2.0 and WiFi while also retaining a Infrared port.

Opera Mini woks really well and is highly recommended if you plan to surf on your E51. Surfing over WiFi is a delight, though 2G GPRS speeds in Mumbai doesn’t impress me.** The only complain is that the WiFi is not strong enough. While my iPhone catches network across the neighbourhood the E51 doesn’t. But then iPhone is iPhone...

* The E51 has an home key

that is easily recognizable as the HOME KEY. Pressing this key from

anywhere in the phone’s menu brings to the standby screen. The

rubberized volume, power and record buttons on the sides are a test to

our strength and effort. The glossy surface attracts fingerprints very

easily although a few swipes across my t-shirt would do the trick.

Nokia E51 like the rest of the phones from this series has an fabulous battery life, in this case it is an 1050mAh BP-6MT. With no auto focus limited music and media use, this battery is fine to keep the Nokia E51 up and running for days. With light use it may even last for a week on full recharge which is simply amazing.

All in all the Nokia E51

is a great phone, is stylish and  elegant which suits all your business

and personal needs with quite a lot of punch to it in terms of

features, performance and battery life. The only thing missing I feel

is a 3MP Camera and a Flash. But we can get all right? Priced at a very

competitive point below Rs 15000 (arnd 12k) it a compelte Value for Money!
