I own a Nokia E63 Black since last week. I would like to share some of my view about this product.
I think Nokia has considered the recession very well before releasing this product J
E63 is the right choice for those professionals who want to cut their cost in investing in business phones. This product is really worth buying for its features and price tag.
Sound:
The Sound reception is pretty good and clear. The ringtones are also loud enough that one won’t miss any calls. There is also option to add special effects to your ringtones like echo, 3D Sounds, tempo, preset sound effects. The most amazing thing is its microphone. I can speak in conference calls as far as from 2m range, hence your client or girl friend will never blame your voice clarity.
I feel that loudness of sound during a call in “Loudspeaker Mode” is not sufficient for a punch, however it is manageable. I’m not sure how it works in Nokia E71 or E72, but in E63 it needs tweaking.
Display:
The Large Wide screen display is awesome. Now I don’t have to scroll down to read an SMS, coz the entire message can fit in one screen itself. The wide screen also helps in better image viewing.
Nokia E63 comes with a Light Detection Sensor, which senses the ambience and adjusts the screen brightness by itself. It also justifies whether to glow the keyboard backlit or not. This is a good try from Nokia.
I feel the Sensor detection response is little slower. i.e if you go to a darker room from a brighter one, you will have to wait patiently for atleast 5 or 6 secs to feel the change in display. Nokia has to gear up its response time.
Build Quality:
E63 is a plastic phone unlike the metallic finished E71. This made me to think a lot whether to go for it or not. But when I felt E63 in showroom, I realized that I under estimated the product.
E63 is robust in construction. It might be little thicker than E71 but I feel one can rough use it very well than the feathery E71 / E72.
Network Detection:
Nokia has made a benchmark in cell phone technology; its signaling performance is matchless. Previously I owned Sony Ericsson phones which failed to catch-up signal from my office desk. Hence have to walk out frequently during calls. But now I can see full tower in my set and can also make calls uninterruptedly from my desk itself.
Battery Back-up:
The battery performance is astonishing. Im sure this will help a lot for travellers. Nokia rated its talk time as 10 hours and 30 min.
Believe me or not I charge it once in every 5 days. My usage is 8 to 10 calls per day with an overall call time about 45 min per day. I have not seen such high performance battery before in any phones.
Features:
This phone has lot many good features please refer Nokia Site to see them; I’m highlighting only the ones which attracted me.
- QWERTY Keyboard:
I remember my PC when I use the keyboard of this phone. Ergonomically designed keys makes my fingers a feathery feel and they are placed at right place too. It helps me a lot in texting and Emailing. On holding the space key for a while activates Torch Light which is really a good function. You will find its use in Theatres, Parking lots, Low light areas. Well done nokia.
- Office Tools:
I went for E series only coz of this feature. Office Tools has features like Quick office(same as MS-Office), E-Mail, Personal Information management, Dictionary, Wireless Keyboard, Printer, PDF reader, ZIP tool, Internet, Intranet, Search Engine, File Manager, Application Download Utility, Maps and GPS receiver.
- Multimedia:
The Phone has a 2MP camera which gives good results during daylight. Video recording is also pretty decent. It has a Music Player, Real Player, Flash Player, Voice Recorder, podcast, Music share and more. It has also interfaces to YouTube, Facebook, MySpace websites.
Whats in the pack?
Nokia E63 Black, Nokia Charger, Headset, 1GB memory card, Data Cable, Bluetooth(Free), User guide
Verdict:
If you are a growing professional / business man and want to start with a business phone then E63 is the best choice. This phone has great features, fantastic battery backup and comes with a very reasonable price tag. You could also rough use it very well than the luxurious E71 / E72.
Remember, E63 is not a super computer to show multi-tasking performance, but a decent business phone that fits into your pocket as well as your budget.
