I purchased Nokia E-71 from RPG-Cellucom outlet at Mulund(W), Mumbai, in Oct 2008. I had to wait for 2 weeks for getting my handset.
I had hardly used it for a month, when it stopped working. The problem was, it could not activate the display after pressing of theOn button. Because of other constraints, I did not approach either RPG-Cellucon or Nokia.
I gave the handset to Nokia Care centre at Mulund on 24th Nov, 2008. They could not repair my handset and asked me to take to Nokias higher level customer service centre(Bright Point India Ltd., at Lower Parel). There, I was told that there is someliquid damage and the phone cannot be repaired within warranty. I was not informed about this at the time of purchase.
When asked about whether the device could be repaired on payment basis, the service centre had no offerings.
On asking whether I have any hopes of getting my handset working again, both Nokia help line executives and the service centre people were very casual. They kept repeating the same line: "liquid damage is not covered in warranty".
I am left with a useless device on which I spent Rs. 20250/- and Nokia feels no guilt!
Though the design and features are good, I would not recommend this phone to anyone.
I am thoroughly disturbed by Nokias approach of hiding behind faceless helpline numbers.
I want Nokia to give me a replacement or return the money back.
