This is arguably the worst phone ever produced.
It is extremely slow
can hang on the following events:
new message arrival
opening new message
replying to new message
opening the browser
opening any application
switching to camera mode
switching to any other mode
pressing the hang-up key
pressing the home key
In normal usage (5-6 emails a day/5-6 text messages a day/10 calls per day), the phone hangs about six times, and out of that, once a day-hangup will be such that you will need to take off the batteries to restart the phone because even the on/off button ceases to work.
The camera is bad - many 3MP cameras on other phones take better pictures than this one
The camera is slow, basically the phone is painfully slow.
Its GPS has never worked with its Nokia Maps
It inbuilt Nokia mail functionality has never worked on GPRS - it has worked only on wi-fi
Build Quality
The back flap of this phone is loose and sometimes comes off in the pocket if you are not using the leather-like cover from Nokia.
Despite repeated complaints to Nokia India, they have never cared to send an appropriate response. Nokia India service is so pathetic, people urge you NOT to give you new phone to them. HOW can I reproduce a hanged phone to them is a question. Their customer service called me up and the lady on the other end kept reading (sounded like) a print advertisement from Nokia. She even made claims that Nokia never compares their product with anyone . She denied that they compared this phone with Blackberry and she challenged me to produce a proof of that! She also maintained that Nokia phones don’t hang.
You feel cheated because Nokia compares this phone with the blackberry’s - I have an ancient 8700 blackberry that hasn’t hung in years AND is much faster than the E72
This is the last Nokia of my life and I would advice anyone thinking of a phone to stay away from Nokia ’smart’ phones. It’s impossible to manufacture a phone worse than the Nokia E72 - it has every issue that can possibly exist with a phone.
