BEAWARE, Pathetic and Flimsy built quality

I bought a Nokia Lumia 720 from Flipkart two months ago ( Invoice No. KOL20136700077377, Serial No.357297052629210). But within 2 weeks the phone’s speaker stopped working. I complained to Flipkart and because of the 30 Days Replacement Policy they replaced my phone ( Invoice No. KOL20136800070152, Serial No. 357297054144770).Now, few days ago I had to restart the phone because it hanged while working and after restarting, the display went blank. Everything else was working, I could hear the ring tone if someone called, the 3 soft keys were blinking but the main display was just blank.

I called up Flipkart but they refuses to entertain as my phone had crosses the 30 Days Replacement Warranty, they asked me to contact Nokia Care. When I went to Nokia Care in Sector 14, Gurgaon on 8th October, they were themselves puzzled with the issue and after having an extremely detailed look a my phone they somehow discovered a microscopic hairline scratch and then said that my 2 months old phone will now not be covered in warranty as there is a scratch on the screen and it may have been because I might have dropped my phone somewhere, someday, sometime.

They asked me to pay Rs 7, 800 if I wanted to get my phone repaired. I told them clearly that my phone was working perfectly until it hanged and I needed to restart it and the hairline scratch that they discovered might be because of the normal daily wear and tear. But they completely refused to entertain me any further.

Dear Nokia, there was a time when your phones were known for quality (though they were ages behind others in operating system) but now you have lost that edge also. What kind of built quality your Rs 16, 000 phone has if it stops working because of a hairline scratch? Is it fit enough to handle the normal daily wear and tear that any phone goes through? Are your Nokia Care centers in such a bad shape that they have to start cheating their own customers?

I know you are in extremely bad shape and have been sold to another major enterprise. But even in these bad times, you should put whatever money you are left with, in maintaining your product quality and customer service and not just in wooing customers with fancy advertisements.

I feel cheated, I regret buying this phone, I should have rather played safe and bought a Samsung or an Apple. Nokia’s product quality these days is as bad as that of any other unbranded Chinese phones.

Warm Regards,

Abhishek Kumar.
