Most reviews I read are by reviewers who used the phone for less than a year. Many for less than 6 months.
My phone is for keeps. I expect my phone to go on and on. Im not the one to go for the latest every now and then. Rather old fashioned stand point, but if I spend 14000 for a camera phone, would expect it to last for 4 to 5 years. Ok. Alright. Lets be reasonable with the most trusted brand. Atleast for 3 years.
18 months down the line, my phone does not allow me to send and receive SMSs, does not allow me to update/edit/add new contacts, call register has become useless (no info abt missed calls, received calls, dialled numbers). This because according to the phone my memory is full. I need to delete some data. Even some other non descript phones have loud and clear music players than this N73 Music Edition
Now, my 2 GB memory card is not even half full and when using the phone memory for messages still the same problem persists. It says phone memory is also full, where as the memory detailer/scanner/reader says that I have used it only for some non descript usages like calender entry which amounts to only some KB. Far lower than 1 MB. Still phone memory says its full.
Now comes the Nokia Care Center experience. The Andheri West Center manager was so amateurish that I just did not risk giving my phone to him. He gave preferrential treatment to N series customers. May be a diktat from Nokia, but I wasnt too thrilled inspite of being a N series owner. Apparently if I dont own a N series Im a second class Nokia citizen. The center was terribly low staffed. Just 1 other girl apart from the manager. And the manager devoted all his attention in training this new joinee, leaving the customers high and dry. Also the manager spent a good 10min giving a piece of mind to his house keeping staff in full view of the customers, who had become very restless by now at this wastage of time. The Manager says the cost for the software upgrade will be Rs.200 but he was not sure if this will fix the problem. I refused to submit my phone at this very unprofessional center run like some home based domestic "papad" business.
So the next stop was Goregaon West Linking Road Center in Shastri Nagar. They diagnosed the same problem, software upgrade. But here it will cost me Rs.330. They didnt know why the Andheri Center told me 200 bucks. Since the Center looked a lot more promising, submitted my phone there. And tomorrow is the 15th day and still I havent got my phone back. The reasons... 1 day the technician didnt come, the other day the systems were down. When asked to give my phone back if they cant fix it, they say the phone is not even starting now. Apparently they have made the problem even worse and dont know how to fix it
Overall, a bad bad experience with Nokia. What good is the camera if one cant use the phone for what it is meant for... send and receive messages and make and receive calls
You leave a bad taste Nokia. Could not use the phone camera at the office picnic coz it was resting in peace in the Nokia Cemetery Center
