The Nokia N82

Ok I got the New N82 rock solid phone. *

Looks*

Well not an eye catcher but to whatever gal I showed this phone all

said it looks cute, umm yeah eh I take it as compliment. In looks I

love the iphone and N95 8GB as a personal choice.

*Functionality

Man this phone is fast 2.4" screen 240x320 crisp QVGA is good for the

candy size form factor though not very helpful in browsing internet

over the phone(who cares I have mini map and anyways no 3G in india so

I rely on Wi-fi) it supports 3G HSDPA and stuff so if your provider has

it. Thats great. Wi-Fi works like a charm however you might have to

manually set your Hidden WLAN network.

The Auto rotation is good but its gravity based. Like your phone should

be exactly 90 degrees, you might have to shake it a little at times to

get the orientation right. However it only rotates to Left(yeah yeah

no iphone there) but I think ppl are working on software like landscape

pro which can make rotate both sides(didnt work for me though), I will

rather wait for firmware update.

It has symbian s60 3rd edition and phone is fast real fast with specs

of N95 8GB 128 MB ram, 90 MB free at start up. IT even starts faster

than N95 30 sec flat. Even faster than my Motorola L6 though that is

just a basic phone.

Never found the phone slow even with 5-6 applications running in background.

To add even the ambient light sensor is good.

Music

The music quality is great better than N95 though built in stereo

speakers are not as loud as N95 but still great. They are both on Same

side of the phone so stereo widening can really be heard. Ppl say while

holding the phone in loudspeaker mode the speakers might be covered

with hand well I haven’t face such a problem.

The bundled headphone is HS 43 so no music changing from headphones you

have make a playlist or pull the phone out. It supports A2DP profile so

stereo bluetooth is one good wireless music option.

Radio is good but no RDS like SE however I found good receptions everywhere.

It also support podcasts and the 3.5 jack is on the top makes pocket listening more comfortable.

Keypad

Pretty odd keypad for a nokia you might think its not good, well in

starting I felt the same I was feeling hurt in thumb but in like 2 days

I got used to it keypad is really nice no accidental key presses as

there is ample space in keys. I have avg sized fingers and I find it

easy to use. PPl might not find key numbers pretty visible in day due

to white text on chrome pad however, I got used to them by typing

without looking so really does not matter otherwise they are well lit

in Dark enviroment with all the other buttons like camera etc.

D pad is nice and responsive the phone build is sturdy. Though D pad

leaks some light from sides, the call and end key are nicely placed and

its quite speedy to use em.

The multimedia key is a nice edition to make you reach to the new OVi

menu which can be customized so music player usage becomes easy.

Camera

The camera is what makes N82 the best phone its even better than N95

8GB cams and it comes with a lens cover its snappy and fast like a

digicam, ppl would say daylight pictures are equal I would say no they

are more sharper if you actually care for details. a

Night pictures are just amazing even better than K850i flash or a kodak digicam flash even in total dark see here https://thenokiablog.com/2007/11/15/v.-night-photos/

To check my pictures for a quality(only the one clicked in bangalore

others were clicked from a sony digicam) check my flickr page >>

Check out phone arena’s camera review the N82 is best cam phone. Video recording is 640*480 at 30 fps so its pretty cooooool.

even phone arena gave it a 9.5/10

*Battery

Well surfing internet daily using camera and listening to music making

calls battery easily cover 2 days which is pretty decent for a phone

like this. Vibration feel is good.

Others*

The phone supports SDHC so you can use cards of 8GB or more easily

though I use 2 GB bundled. TV out is also present. GPS locks really

fast as GPS receiver is located on the top of the phone. Its even

faster than N95.

IT might not be the flagship model of nokia as N95 8GB but its the best nokia phone out there.

I am liking it more and more daily as it supports all N95 softwares and functions
