The way I titled my review is supported in my entire writing. N95 has the usability that represent a smart phone but it doesnt have the resources to support them especially in india. I bought this phone 3 weeks back after long wait since it release as the new products are more prone to have bugs.
This phone has excellent features like the
1) Imaging - 5 mega pixel cam with Carl Zeiss optics & video capture capability of 30 frames/sec for which they claim it as dvd quality video playback in a phone. this is the feature that made me to buy this phone. the flash is so powerful that even in complete dark you can take the snaps with good quality. you have a secondary cam in the front which can be used for video calls(not in india as the network still doesnt support) so, over all this phone can replace your digicam comfortably.
2) music - supports MP3/AAC/AAC+/eAAC+/WMA/M4A, the integrated loudspeaker is good at the level of sound o/p but not at clarity(hear the sony ericsson scores). it has 2 side speakers and a front speaker which u can turn off and on upon ur choice. The headphones(with pack) are not that good build still u can use ur own choice of them. so this phone can not replace ur premium portable music player. FM reception is good.
3)Navigation - This consists the Nokia maps and GPS, GPS works fine but Nokia maps doesnt have any of the city in india. instead u have to use other third party app. this can not be a grt feature for users in india
4)Connectivity - connects through USB, bluetooth to a PC, has infrared also. supports Wi-Fi, WLAN, EGPRS, but not 3G and push mail capabilities.
5)Software - the OS is a symbian s60 3rd edition which is quite fast supports good multi tasking but u still dont have many popular mob appl supporting it. Other preloaded appl(not many) like bar code reader, 3D tones etc are seldem useful. the browser provided is adequete and current version of opera mini doesnt work with this phone. u can play .mp4 and .rm(not all variant format) files with the real player in- bulit but if u want to play .avi, .wmv, .mpeg u need to get other installed.
6) other features- it has the TV-out slot which can be used to view videos, listen songs through ur TV by playing them on ur phone, screen resolution is pretty good, the phone can be slided out in 2 directions which is quite handy providing text typing in one and music options in other.
the main problems I faced
-the battery power is worse and if u use above features 2 or more then it will drain in 4-5 hrs.
-the kind of GPRS connection speed we get in india doesnt fully support the connectivity features of it.
-the OS got hanged twice or thrice not becoz of user fault but some firmware bug.
- Nokia need to provide better headphones than what they provide now
-we can personalize our music files into different folders as the preloaded music player lists all at once.
Finally what I want to say is if u have a big pocket go for it otherwise go for other like N73 which is price-worthy.
