Not a Penny More, Not a Penny Less is one of the books of Jeffery Archer which does not run into many pages. It is has a great plot, the story line is gripping and you can finish reading the book on a lazy weekend afternoon!
Not a Penny More, Not a Penny Less, is a story of revenge! Harvey Metcalfe, a Boston based self-made guru of deceit, stays behind the scenes and runs a stock scam involving some bogus petroleum shares at the London stock Exchange. Harvey happily goes away a million dollars richer and leaves behind four principal buyers, on the edge of financial ruin. All the four men had invested in the shares with dreams of becoming rich, but to their dismay, they discover that they are penniless.
The four men are strangers---they have ever met each other before. Stephen Bradley is a Harvard mathematics graduate, now a visiting professor at Oxford. Dr. Robin Oakley as the name suggest is a doctor. Jean-Pierre Lamanns is a French art collector and gallery owner. Lord James Brigsley is a lord.
Stephen Bradley chooses to get even with the person who had cheated them and he brings together the other three investors and makes a proposition. They decide to work together to get the one million dollars back from Harvey Metcalfe. They want all the money back---not a penny more, not a penny less! After all, combined effort is better than individual effort. They all agree to combine their individual abilities and expertise to come up a scheme to relieve Harvey of the exact amount he robbed them off.
Each of the four victims is supposed to come up with a plan of his own. The lord was initially not interested in the idea, but he ultimately surprises the other three with his plan. The four, with their neatly laid plans go ahead in pursuit of their goal of defeating Metcalfe and getting their money back not a penny more, not a penny less.
What are the individual plans, what do they do, how do they go ahead with their plans? What is the strategy? What happens in the end? Are the four people in a position to get back at Harvey Metcalfe as they wished to?
To know the answers, read the book :)
