Jeffrey Archer surely amazes in every book of his. The narration style remains constant and standard. The plot , the authentic information which he uses to the plot. As in case of this book much like any other, He provides us a lot of information , like the work timings and schedule of the New York Times office in London, the terminology of the stock exchange. Too bad a writer like that is in prison. But every book of his. You are absolutely compelled to read not just the last page, but to the last line. The character he portrays , the background information provided of his characters, the revelation of the secret behind every twist leaves you spellbound. Not a Penny more , Not a Penny less, is one such representation of his fine story telling profile. Page by page, line by line you are glued or at least the inherent force that makes you glued to the book. the only factor whats gonna happen next is going to drive you crazy as you read on. Jefferey Archer, In his real life lost a lot of money in a share scam and as the result, this book.
The Story
The the first few chapters becomes a foundation for the entire plot. The background information of Harvey Metcalf , the sequence of events that made the four unlikely companions losing their money, the working schedule of the New York times, the stock market , and such related and yet necessary information that formed the plot.
David ( aaah my name sake), worked for Prospecta oil ( owned by Harvey ). During the brief tenure of his employment, an obviously fake geologist report was revealed to him. His employer used this report and David as a bait to make the stock market to invest in this company. David meets his Harvard university mentor and friend Stephen Bradley, who is a professor at Oxfords. David also meets Dr. Robin who is a general practitioner, buys a valuable painting from an art dealer, Jean Pierre and meets an Earl Lord James Brigsley at a discotheque. He revealed the geologist report to all the four mentioned and invariably coaxes them to in investing in this company. By the time this scam came to light, the company office disappears, and so does David, after realizing he was a bait.
The four victims come together and make plans to get their money back, to the last penny. The four of them put together make a great team. Their own talents in their respective individual fields otherwise proved useless in getting their money back. Do they make their plans work? would they get their money back ?
Read the book and find out. The plot offers two major twists. There is also another interesting character. Very little is mentioned about this character and yet , made a powerful impact on the plot.
And for Desserts
All the characters portrayed in this book are just impressive enough not to overlook them. Harvey Metcalf is impressive because he made a huge knock of the first opportunity he got and no looking back since then. Stephen Bradleys obsession in getting even, the amount of research he has put in to find out more about his enemy and the way he puts together his team was quiet amazing.
I recommend this book for very obvious reasons, the presentation , the flair, the plot , introduction of the characters , the suspense and last but not the least , for entertainment.
Note :- do not try the adventures at home (Lol)
