I got this book from my aunt a few years back as a present. I was first relectant to read this book because I usually read political & history books. But when I came to know it was based in Iran, I couldnt resist myself. I pocked up the book and found it very interesting. It is based upon the life of Betty Mahmoody who is also the co-author of the book. She was married to an Iranian doctor based in USA. They have a daughter who is just 4 yrs old. Betty also has two sons from her previous marriage. Her husbands name is Mahmoody but is called Moody. He takes her wife and daughter to Iran and forces them to stay there forever. But with help from various people she is able to leave Iran. But the book is all about the social customs of Iran and how women are oppressed. I found it difficult to comprehend that women can be made to go through so much torture there. I would recommend this book to everybody. Do go ahead and buy this book.
