Well this was a lovely novel written by betty mahmoody with the help of william hoffer......the story is described very nicely and every thing is described in detail.....betty was the mother of two sons...joe and john from her first marriage....now she was divorsed...she met moody in a hospital where he was the doctor and somehow they both got married....then she had a daughter who was named mahtoob ....
Moody was an iranian american and asked betty and mahtoob to go with him to iran.....betty didn’t wanted to go as she was afraid that he wouldn’t let them come back to america as from last year he wasn’t working and they were having many fights..
But she was also afraid that if ahe didn’t go they will have a divorse for sure...but she wouldn’t be able to stop moody from meeting mahtoob and from taking her to iran and might be he never brings her back so she thought that if she goes with him there is a chance to come back and atleast she wud b there wid mahtob...and as she thought he didn’t bring them back....she tried hard to escape...but all ways wer by leaving her daughter in iran......bt finally she got out of iran by amahal’s help...a man who also wanted to go from iran...in iran she suffered a lot like moody’s beating, his torchring relatives and also met a few women whose husbands had also done the same to them....in middle it becomes so depressing and is described so beautifully that u can even get a gud cry...do read it
