NYX is one of the new watering holes for Bangalore’s neo-rich. This review, though, I not about the place but what we went through on our first visit. Being a Saturday we were charged 1200 bucks with 1000 as cover charge. It took us a while to get a table - we were not in the mood to hang by the bar or to hit the floor. The guy serving us started his fleecing act from the first order. Since we had coupons of 500 each, this guy would maintain a tab. He started charging 50 to 100 bucks extra from what was written in the menu.
When we questioned our balance, we realised we were over charged. Then he started screwing orders. Anyone who knows his drinks knows that Long Island Iced Tea does not come with a strawberry. No, I dont want one and please listen when I tell you to get rid of it. But he did it twice before he got the correct version. By this time we had finished our coupons and had to pay by cash. I gave him a 500 note and he had to return 200 bucks back. The overcharging thing happened again. We had to correct his balance by showing the menu card. He took about 30 mins to get my money back and that too we asked for it just before we left.
I am wondering what happens to ppl who come in large groups. No one keeps tab of what is ordered and charged. Ppl get high and stop caring. And the staff is too well trained to recognize this. It would be very easy to overcharge a group by 1000-2000 bucks in a night very easily. Bangalore has a good party circuit. But I now know that I cannot let my hair(and my guard) down.
