This is one great AC. Its a 2 ton window that I have installed in a 700-800 sq ft area, in a room that gets morning and mid day sun. The General cools and dehumidifies the place with ease. In the room where its installed I was thinking of putting a split but Id heard so much about General that I decided to give it a try.
What swung the decision in the Generals favor were a couple of things:
Split would have involved more work
the cooling of this AC in BTUs is more than other window ACs and splits of the same capacity from other brands.
stats are here: https://generalindia.com/window.html
- While its cooling capacity is almost equal to 2.25 tons, its electricity consumption is the lowest when compared to other contenders I considered.
Apart from the above this AC has a powerful fan with a very wide cooling arc and it makes comparatively little noise for its capacity. The super quiet mode it truly quiet.
In India, the dealer will bill it from Pondicherry, where they are made, to save you a couple of 1000 bucks. On average this AC is about 25-30% more expensive than other branded 2 ton window ACs. For me the premium has been worth it.
One thing people may not like about this AC is that it doesnt come with a remote. I personally dont find this a problem because I can reach the control panel easily. It will be an issue for short people or if its installed really high.
