O2 XDA IIi provides PDA and phone functionalities in a single device. It can use MMC/SD card upto 1 GB. So it allows you to store movies/songs/movie clips/documents/e-books etc and take them with you anywhere you like.
It comes with wi-fi, bluetooth, infra red, gprs for connectivity. So you can download emails, browse internet, connect to office network (through wifi or bluetooth...depends on office infrastructure)
It provides office functionality with word/excel/ppt viewer/adobe reader, tasks / calender/ reminders/appointements with schedule and emailing to other participants.
The screen is large and excellent for reading and browsing.
Thats about the good side. The problem with it is poor battery performance. Utterly poor battery. The poor performance of the battery is because of large screen, wi-fi and bluetooth. I manage to live with the phone for a day with a single charge. No wifi or camera. Blue tooth for syncing with my pc. and atleast one hour of phone plus reminders etc. With this activity I get the battery for nearly a day.
You can buy a large battery which can survive for 2 days. But if wi-fi or bluetooth or music is on, it can last for 14-20 hrs.
You need extra battery where ever you go!!!
Thats the sad part with this device. But if you travel a lot and if you are not driving, its worth carrying one or two extra battery. It will keep you busy.
The camera is a dissapointment. Its picture quality is very average or below average. There is no hard keyboard so sms with a thumb like with Treo. So you need to use two hands. The stylus is good and so is entering data with it. I have done documents and long emails with out major dificulties. But you can get an accessory for a keyboard from O2.
Conclusion
PDA is great. Phone is okay. battery and camera is awful. Expandable memory is good. Large bright screen. Good for those who want a pda and phone in a single device with memory and large screen. One the move people will like it. But get one or two additional batteries.
Please note that the production has been stopped for this phone. But prices in India still remain high.
