We were recently in Bangalore and a bit tired of eating typical veg fare served in our hotel, so we decided to stroll down the famous Church Street and try our luck elsewhere for dinner.
Church Street is full of up market restaurants and pubs. What we wanted was essentially something very tasty and satisfying but without being too expensive. As we were browsing through the excellent "Magazine" store, which I am sure stocks each and every magazine published in the world, we decided to ask the friendly shop owner.
He suggested we try the restaurant on the top of the same building, then his brother turned up so he asked him to recommend something nice. As we wanted seafood, he immediately suggested we try Oasis right opposite their shop. He said that he himself ordered their food twice a week and promised we would not be disappointed. He was right!
The Oasis restaurant on the ground floor is a large room, reasonably well furnished. Service is prompt and courteous. A huge array of various coastal states cuisine is on offer. There is a separate bar on the first floor. We ordered Prawns theeyal, prawns masala fry, Kerala paratha and curd rice along with a soft drink and a bottle of beer. The food was served promptly, spiced right, absolutely delicious and more than adequate for two people. The bill came to around 650 which is not bad at all for that type of restaurant with alcohol. We left with a feeling of immense satisfaction - the hallmark of a good meal in a good restaurant. On our way out, we dropped in at the "Magazine" to thank them for the recommendation.
