I have never tried Bengali food, but I have always wanted to try their fish curry and rice and all other yummy dishes that they prepare. I have heard a lot about Oh Calcutta Express and was waiting to try out the food here. I went here with my husband on a Saturday evening for a late dinner.
We had to wait for sometime as there was quite a lot of waiting and we were given a yummy welcome drink to have. The drink itself impressed me a lot and I now really wanted to know what the food must be like. We got a place in 10 minutes and handed over menus.
After reading it thoroughly we called for Bhapa Chorchori, Steamed Prawns with Coconut and Mustard and Steamed Hilsa Boneless. The moment the food arrived, we gorged it down hungrily and still wanted more of everything.
For the Mains we ordered Prawns Cooked in Tender Coconut Cream, Luchi, Plain rice and the famous Bengali Cholar Dal. What I ate and felt after eating it, is something I cannot put in words. If there is God, he is here!
In Desserts we called for Misti Doi and Bhapa Sondesh. I highly recommend everyone to come here at least once and taste original, true Bengali Cuisine.
