This was my first visit to Hyderabad, and I was looking for a good restaurant which can help me to unwind my self and relax. My friend’s suggested me to visit 1857 at the necklace road of Hyderabad.
1857, is one of the 17 ( not really sure on the number) theme restaurants which the Ohri’s group of hotels run in Hyderabad. It’s on the necklace road, after you cross the necklace road station. It’s a roof top restaurant and as the name suggests 1857, the theme is absolutely of the British era.
Very Spacious, neat seating , and the best part - View of the Hussain Sagar Lake, an absolute delight to your eyes in the evening. What I really liked here was the use of colors and accessories, like the fans or the lights or the wall hangings on the open bar area which gives you a very antique feeling.
The food menu also looked interesting as it was not like the typical menu book which you would find in the restaurants. The menu basically consisted of Indian and Continental choice of food. You also have the drinks menu which offers a wide array of Indian and Foreign drinks. The kabab platter is quite filling for two and was really nice.
Pricing was slightly above average and a typical meal for two would cost you approx. 800-1000 bucks.But here’s the thing which these guys need to work on, and that’s customer service as they are not that very welcoming when you enter the restaurent and you may have to wait for some time to get your table or your food.
It’s a worth visiting place for you to get a change from the usual dining experience.
Well I also saw the other theme restaurents like 70 MM and Tansen of the same group below 1857, which I would be visiting during my next visit to Hyderabad.
