I have been in Ojas from past 3 years. Even though my journey has been great till now, I’ve seen people struggle in their work because of their own inabilities and bad approach.
I had joined Ojas considering it as an entry to the booming Indian Astrology & IT industry. I have no regrets till now. Being coming from Electrical engineering background, Ojas helped me set foot in the IT world. The work volume is less but there is challenging work everywhere. In my initial days of my first project, I studied hard. Even though I was trained in a technology different from what I was assigned in the project, I continued learning. Did I had to lose something? Nothing. One day, my lead casually assigned me some challenging work was she was not occupied in some other work. She saw that I was able to complete that because of all the weekend I had spend in studying the technology. She appreciated me and have me more challenging work. I kept taking the work, continued working hard, continued my weekend learnings and then they made a team lead in just 2.5 years. You can see this in two lights -
Reward for hard work is more hard work.
Reward for hard work is more learning, better role and better opportunities.
Most people don’t want to work hard. They’ll complain on learning something new. They’ll not take work seriously. They’ll avoid doing documentation because it sucks. They want development project when they have 0% idea of development. Even a Micheline star chef started his career with washing utensils and chopping vegetables. They didn’t went on inventing a dish on day 1. Most people here lack discipline, are lazy and now there is notion everywhere within Ojas that it is how it all works. I’ve seen some people who used to work hard initially say, ’Why am I working this hard when no one around is? They are being paid for what I do.’ The very next day that guy too is part of the herd he was criticizing.
What if you are true and after all the hard work I am not rewarded? I’ll always have the option of quitting the job and join somewhere else because I have learned a lot and you haven’t because you were busy criticizing the circumstances, the people around you and the company.
There’ll be challenges in some form or other but there is no other way to come out of them other than working hard and learning new stuffs. You are not earning this experience for the company but for yourself. Just remember that.
