Ola, there is no free lunch, strings attached

Having used the services of all Radio taxis in Bangalore. The entry of OLA did unsettle Meru which had a monopoly in Bangalore. After initial inducements to customers, OLA has suddenly realized that they have to make money and keep the VCs dreaming.

They slowly introduced the peak hour charges and now suddenly hiked it up to 1.4 x normal rates. The drivers bring their call center mentality of rash driving and impolite manners. There is no safety. Not sure if the liability is on the OLA or the individual who owns the cabs. There is  a bug in the software and you are charged for waiting at the signals at rs 2 per minutes.

OLA has cannibalized Taxi for Sure and is a monopoly in Bangalore now. But what the commuter wants is safety and security. One good ofshoot is the taming of the unruly autodrivers. a commuter does not hesitate to pay Rs 10 extra if the auto driver is willing to go by the meter. Here too there have been demands for excess fare. I wish they introduces payment through apps even for Auto’s/
