I have been using Ola services for both Auto and Cabs for quite sometime and was happy with their services. However, yesterday night I had hired their cab from Parry’s Corner to Abhiramapuram and was shocked when the driver informed that the meter charges are Rs.465/-. The driver informed that the charges were high since it was peak time charges and I had hired the cab not during the busy hours but at 10 PM in the night.
The driver was helpless and there was no point in arguing with him and I paid him the amount claimed. However, if Ola is going to charge peak time charges which were almost 3 times of the normal fare they should at least inform the passenger at the time of booking of the applicable charges. Imagine if I did not have sufficient cash to pay the driver. Passenger has to know if he is going to pay highly inflated charges before booking a cab. Otherwise this will be cheating.
While some State Governments have put a curb on surge pricing TN government has not done anything yet. I have heard from Ola Auto drivers that normally Ola Autos are not available beyond 8 PM and Ola wants everyone to travel by Cab and perhaps this is the reason for the same when passengers can be fleeced. Be careful while booking Ola Cabs in future.
