An old fisherman's final big catch

The story is about an old fisherman and his battle with a great fish. It begins when the old fisherman, who has been unlucky with his catch for many days, tells his young apprentice that he is going further the next day and is sure to land up with a great catch.

So the fisherman does and a great big fish indeed bites his line, but the fish is so big that it pulls the boat with it. The story then tells about the old man’s adventure, his struggle with the fish, which he calls great due to its resilience and attempt at survival. The story is about his attempt to bring it back, one big haul - shark attacks and his eventually reaching home. It is a good story, but I did not find it as great as the reviews called it.
